Aldi Stores Framework

ForgeCM, formed in 2019 from Llion Williams’ long-standing Aldi partnership, has become a key construction partner for Aldi, re-securing the framework in 2025 and expanding services to support Aldi’s ambitious growth.

Client: Aldi Stores Limited
Location: North of England & Midlands
Sector: Retail
Status: Ongoing Framework Since 2019

Prior to 2019, Llion Williams had been an integral part of the Aldi roll out with a relationship spanning 10 years. Aldi approached Llion in 2019 to see if the existing role could be expanded to include Construction Management duties. A strategy was developed which included acquiring the services of Paul Conway as Head of Construction. This was the first step in ForgeCM being formed.

Forge act as Principal Contractor for Aldi which includes site management and preliminaries. The role requires managing trade packages and direct orders on site to maximise the value. This includes approximately 80 different orders per scheme. Forge provides early advice at project feasibility, providing Aldi with buildability insight from inception.

Since 2019, Forge have become an integral part of Aldi. Working closely with EDGE as cost managers to oversee the full process from Feasibility to Handover. Forge have built a dedicated team committed to delivering a bespoke service to assist Aldi with their ambitious expansion plans.

In 2025, Forge were successful in re-bidding for the Aldi Framework. The new award saw Forge going from strength to strength, expanding their services to Aldi over a larger geography. This expansion part of the original expansion strategy and key to Forge’s growth. The award reinforces Forge and Aldi’s successful relationship.

“With this expansion, Forge now proudly spans a national presence from Birmingham to Berwick-upon-Tweed.”

Aldi Stores Framework.

Client: Aldi Stores Limited

Overview.

New Aldi Store on a brownfield site with major highway works, and development of other parcels of land to be sold off. Works included:

Site remediation, including contaminated ground
New Aldi store format

With several considerations given to the highway works due to Penistone Road being a major road into the city, Forge developed a programme capable of detaching the third party works from the main build to de-risk the scheme. The store opened 2 weeks early, despite the site remediation and highway considerations. The infrastructure works provided by Forge unlocked the wider site giving a total development of 12.39 acres.
